87 lakh 40 thousand 595 doses of vaccine have been given so far in India

The Union Ministry of Health and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) held a press conference on Tuesday regarding the status of Covid-19 global epidemic in the country. Here, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that 87 lakh 40 thousand 595 doses of vaccine have been given so far in India. 85 lakh 69 thousand 917 people were given the first dose while one lakh 70 thousand 678 people were given the second dose.

There are less than 1.40 lakh active cases of corona in the country. The cumulative positivity rate is 5.27 percent. Bhushan said that 72 percent of the total active cases in the country are from two states. These include Kerala and Maharashtra. Kerala has 61,550 active cases of corona infection, while Maharashtra has 37,383 cases. Bhushan said that 56 new cases per 10 lakh population have been reported in the country in the last seven days.

The Union Health Secretary said that Rajasthan, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Lakshadweep have been administered corona vaccine doses to more than 70 percent of health workers. Apart from this, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tripura, Gujarat and Goa have given a second dose of vaccine to 60% of eligible health workers.
