On Monday, a worker was severely burnt when he was electrocuted at the Naojan sub-power plant under construction in the evening. The victim was identified as Joy Prakash Chauhan. Instead of treating the injured workers immediately after the incident, the contractor fled the scene and all the employee of the Sarupathar Power Circle present there.
About 80 per cent of the burnt workers were rescued by locals and unaccounted for by the police and admitted to the Sarupathar Health Center. But as the condition of the workers is very critical, Golaghat is resorting to civilian treatment for better treatment.
The construction of the Naojan sub-power plant was carried out by an entity called Win Power Infra Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati. A man named Sunil Gogoi was employed as the supervisor of the organization. Injured Joy Prakash Chauhan is a contract employee of a company called Win Power Infra. On Monday, Supervisor Sunil Gogoi lifted Joy Prakashak on a power pole and allowed him to connect the phases. But as soon as the workers put on the phase, Supervisor Sunil Gogoi switched on the power connection and got electrocuted and caught fire and fell to the ground from above. Significantly, the substation under construction at that time contained some of the contents of the Sarupatha Power Circle.
