An Air India Express plane crashed while landing at Karipur Airport in Kozhikode, Kerala. According to information received from Air India Express, the plane coming from Dubai had 10 newborns and 191 passengers including crew members. Six crew members including two pilots were also present in the aircraft.
According to information received from Condotti Police, Air India’s Dubai-Kozhikode flight (IX-1344) crashed while landing at 7.45 pm on Friday evening. According to the information, the accident occurred due to wet runway due to rain. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a detailed investigation into the case.
The aircraft fell into a trench about 30 feet after slipping. Passengers are being ejected. Explain that the airport at Kozhikode is geographically ‘table top’, meaning the moat around the airstrip. That is why the plane slipped into the ditch after missing the runway. There is no information about any casualty in the accident.
According to information from DGCA, the aircraft made landing on runway number 10. After which the plane slipped and fell into the ditch. The plane fell into two pieces after falling into the ditch. The DGCA reported that the visibility at the time of landing was 2000 meters. The aircraft was coming to India from Dubai under the Vanda Bharat Mission.
Teams of National Disaster Response Force have reached the spot for rescue and relief work. On the other hand, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that police and other forces have been asked to take immediate action. Officers have been instructed to provide rescue and medical help.
Apart from the Civil Aviation Ministry, DG Media Rajiv Jain said that there was no information about the fire at the time of landing. Rescue work is going on and the passengers are being taken to the hospital. At the same time, on the official Twitter handle of Consulate General of India in Dubai, helpline numbers have been issued regarding this incident.
