The number of corona infects in the world crossed 3.84 crore on Wednesday, while the number of dead exceeded 10.92 lakh. 2.88 crore people have been cured of infection. The number of active cases in the world is 84.64 lakh, out of which about 70 thousand are in critical condition. Meanwhile, the first half of 2020 saw an unprecedented drop in greenhouse gas emissions due to worldwide epidemiological restrictions.
This decline, the researchers said, is much greater than the financial crisis of 2008 and even World War II. Governments implemented lockdowns to prevent the spread of infections and then ceased carbon dioxide emissions from traffic, power generation and airplanes. In the first half of 2020, carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles were reduced by 40 per cent and electricity generation by 22 per cent and industry by 17 per cent.
