Pakistan’s outgoing naval chief Admiral Zafar Mahmoud Abbasi made a major announcement in his farewell on Wednesday. He handed over the command of Pakistan Navy to Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi, saying that the Pakistan Navy would include 20 major ships including 50 ships in its fleet as part of its ambitious plan.
Niazi was commissioned in the operations branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1985. He has been awarded ‘Sword of Honor’ on completion of initial training at Pakistan Naval Academy.
The outgoing naval chief, Admiral Abbasi, said his primary focus was on strengthening the navy, with special emphasis on combat preparedness and professional capability.
