The Pentagon, under the command of US President Donald Trump will begin withdrawing troops from West Asia in the coming weeks, and US military leaders have begun to find ways to deal with potential attacks from Iran and its close countries in the region.
A senior US military official familiar with the area said on Monday that Iran could benefit from plans for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and the departure of the aircraft carrier ‘USS Nimitz’ from the Arabian Gulf.
The official said that in view of the security situation in the area, the military leaders have decided to let ‘Nimitz’ stay there now and for some time to come.
Apart from this, the fighter aircraft ‘Squadron’ will also be sent if needed. Nimitz had left the Gulf region and was about to return to the country. But in the wake of the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, the vessel was ordered last week to provide additional security there.
