Employees at Google, one of the world’s top tech companies, have formed a union. This union will work for better salary, job facilities, good work culture of employees.

Google’s 225 engineers employees formed an employee union in San Francisco. This is the first time in America’s tech industry. Companies do not want to let themselves form unions, suppresses any such efforts. For this reason, Google employees secretly formed the union and in December elected office-bearers and named it Alphabet Workers Union after the proprietary company Alphabet.

The special thing is that about 2.60 lakh employees in Google work on permanent or contract, out of which 225 union is considered very small but a beginning. Union Vice-President and Engineer Chivi Shaw said that through this, the workplace problems of employees will be overcome by putting pressure on management. Their job will be to address issues affecting the employees on a large scale.

Google’s Director of People Operations Kara Slaverstein said the institute has always tried to create a supportive and profitable environment for employees. Employees are covered under labor laws, but the institute itself will continue to work out solutions by talking to them.

The US labor regulator has accused Google of illegally questioning employees. Many of these people had demonstrated against the company’s policies and tried to form an organization. After this he was fired from his job. However, Google favors that it is confident that all actions taken by it are legitimate. Low salaries are not an issue in software companies as they get good salaries. But society, politics and ideological disputes have often come up in employees and management. These include sexual abuse and diversity and discrimination at the workplace. Google is speculating by the union to raise issues such as ethical use of artificial intelligence, discrimination in self-driving cars and Internet search results to the management.
