Four players, including Indian hockey team captain Manpreet Singh, were found Covid-19 positive investigation after reporting to the National Hockey Camp at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Sports Excellence Center in Bengaluru. These players arrived for camp with the team after the break at home. According to SAI’s press release, “SAI has made it mandatory for all players reporting to camp to have Rapid Covid-19 test. All these players who came positive had traveled together, so there is a possibility that the virus will spread from their home to Bangalore.
All the players, including Manpreet, who reported for the camp, are living in seclusion as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and were kept as a precautionary step to prevent the possibility of virus infection. Manpreet said in a statement released by SAI, “I am alone in the SAI campus and am happy with the way the SAI authorities handled the situation.” I am happy that they have made the testing of all the players mandatory. This step will detect virus infection at the right time. I am fine and hope to recover soon. ‘ These separate players did not interact with the other players present in the camp. The standard operating procedure of the state government and SAI is being strictly followed in the camps.
