The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily halted the issuance of new visas for visitors from Pakistan and 11 other countries. India is not in these 12 countries. According to the news of the Pakistani newspaper Express Tribune, Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed the news on Wednesday, saying that the decision taken by UAE officials is believed to be related to the second wave of corona virus in the country.
Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafiz Chowdhury has said that the UAE has temporarily suspended the issuance of new travel visas for 12 countries, including Pakistan, until further announcement. He said the suspension would not apply for visas already issued.
In addition to Pakistan, the UAE government has suspended the issuance of travel visas for Turkey, Iran, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Libya, Kenya, and others in Afghanistan. This decision by the UAE government has brought about the increasing Kovid-19 cases in Pakistan. In the last one week, 2,000 new cases of Corona virus have been reported in the country.
Earlier in June, the UAE announced a temporary suspension of passenger services in Pakistan in view of the growing cases of corona. A total of 3,63,380 cases of Kovid-19 have been reported in Pakistan so far. The number of active cases in the country at present is 30,362.
