Hyderabad scored a convincing win against Punjab on Thursday with the help of tremendous innings from opener Johnny Bairstow (97) and David Warner (52). The 160-run partnership on the first wicket between the two helped the Sunrisers defeat Kings XI Punjab by 69 runs in the league’s 22nd match.
Hyderabad, batting first, scored 201 runs for six wickets. In reply, Punjab’s innings was reduced to 132 in 16.5 overs. Nicholas Pooran’s innings of 77 from 37 balls could not work for Punjab. This is Hyderabad’s third major win in the IPL. Earlier, he defeated RCB by 118 runs in 2019 and Mumbai Indians by 85 runs in 2016.
The Punjab team started off chasing the target in the match did not start well. Mayank Agarwal (09) was runout in the second over. Simran (11), captain Lokesh Rahul (11) and Glenn Maxwell (07) also quickly caught the path of the pavilion.

Rashid Khan once again performed brilliantly and took three wickets for 12 runs. In the fifteenth over, he dismissed Punjab’s hopes by dismissing Puran and Mohammed Shami (00) without scoring runs.
