In Britain, the ruling Conservative Party has advised its cadres to learn to campaign like US President Donald Trump. This has been said in a party newsletter. It has been suggested that activists ‘make fake news a weapon’ and if there is a benefit, then spread absurd things among the people.
According to a report published in the London newspaper The Independent, the Conservative Party has sent this newsletter to Northamptonshire County activists. It says that we can learn a lesson from Trump that by the time the truth starts, the lie has circled the whole world.
The newsletter also suggests combating social and racial justice considerations. The activists have been told that the opposition Labor Party should attack fiercely the equality law that they had made while in power. The Labor Party government enacted these laws to eliminate prejudices in workplaces and public services. Conservative activists have been asked to tell people that the law legalizes gender-based discrimination.
This newsletter is distributed in Willingborough, the constituency of Conservative MP Peter Bone. This was opposed by a Conservative leader, Jack Summers, and it was discussed in the media. Summers says he was dropped from the party’s candidate list. Summers told The Times newspaper that he had received threatening phone calls.
In these calls, he was told that if he does not follow the party’s stated line, his political career will be ruined. But Summers said – I am not ready to follow the instructions that are being given. He said- This instruction is an attack on democracy. Now the Conservative Party has changed. This is not the party I joined. It has become a radical nationalist party rather than a conservative.
Things written in the newsletter confirm Summers’ opinion. It said that the Conservative Party campaigners should learn such techniques that people should consider fake news as real news. At the same time, honest propaganda can be pushed to the margins by that propaganda. It is written in it – the first reaction in your mind after seeing something is that it is nonsense. But such things push your opponents back from the headlines. With such things, news can be published about you saying that you have talked foolishly, but you should ignore it. Those things will make your opponent out of the news.
Till now these things were in discussion that many political forces are using fake news as a strategy. But this is perhaps the first time such a document has emerged about a mainstream party in a developed democracy. In this, the workers have been taught that sometimes it is better to say the wrong thing at the right time than to say the right thing at the wrong time. If you talk sufficiently suspicious, your opponent will be under pressure from him. If he spent a week cleaning up a wrong tweet, then his failure is certain. The newsletter states that Trump used this method to keep the news in check and keep other politicians out of the discussion. In December last year, the Conservative Party led by Boris Johnson won a landslide victory. Even then some experts had said that fake news has a big contribution. But this party uses it strategically, it has now been revealed.
