The Indian cricket team arrived in Brisbane from Sydney on Tuesday. Tired of fatigue before the fourth and final Test, the Indian players were surprised as they arrived at the hotel. Even basic facilities were lacking. Every promise made by Cricket Australia to the Indian team management was broken.
An employee for the Indian team was also not there. Room service and housekeeping facilities were absent. From the players fixing the bed, the players had to clean themselves. The gym was also very simple, in which only one international player could claim.
The players are placed in a bio bubble in the hotel. It is also a threat to mental health for injured players to spend all day in the room. The hotel is not available for swimming pool players. Players cannot move between protocols due to corona infection. Given these conditions, the manager of the team complained to the BCCI.
Currently Cricket Australia has been approached by Chairman Sourav Ganguly, Secretary Jai Shah and CEO Hemang Amin. This disorder has been promised to be cured at the earliest. The Queensland capital was heavy with the hosting of the fourth and final Test from 15 January. However, in Brisbane, only 50 per cent of the capacity audience would be allowed to come.
The BCCI wrote CA in Brisbane on the matter of granting relief under stringent imprisonment rules. Due to this, the Indian team had to stay in the hotel, which the players objected to. CA’s interim CEO Nick Hawkley had said, ‘I want to thank the Queensland Government for their cooperation and willingness to work with CA and BCCI to conduct the fourth test as planned’.
