Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Friday that it would be India’s priority to provide neighboring country Nepal after the introduction of Covid-19 vaccine. Emphasizing the strong cooperative relations with the Himalayan nation, he assured the people there that India sees itself as Nepal’s most important friend and development partner. He arrived here on his first two-day visit to Nepal on the invitation of Nepal Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudayal amidst tension in bilateral relations due to the border dispute.
Harshvardhan Shringla said, Himalayan nation is most important friend and development partner. In a discussion organized by the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs, Shringla said, India stands on the threshold of the availability of Corona vaccines. As the largest manufacturer of vaccines in the world, India is in the front line in this endeavor. We have at least five vaccines in advanced stages of testing. I would like to assure the people of Nepal that once the vaccine comes, then it will be our priority to fulfill the need of Nepal.
In a 25-minute speech, he also said that our aspirations of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Biswas’ and your goals of ‘prosperous Nepal and happy Nepal’ are like each other. India’s relationship with Nepal rests on four pillars of development cooperation, strong connectivity, infrastructure expansion and economic projects. We will work for the priority of Nepal.
