US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Morocco had agreed to normalize relations with Israel. At the same time this year, Morocco became the fourth Arab country to be included in the Abraham Accord.
Trump tweeted that another historic breakthrough today. Our two great allies Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations. A great success for peace in the Middle East.
Simultaneously Trump also tweeted another in which he wrote that he signed a declaration recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara region.
This agreement was followed by the response of the Prime Minister of Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu praised the agreement after Trump’s announcement. He said that I always believed in this peace and also thanked the President of America.
Morocco’s King Mohammed said in a statement that Morocco would take three steps to advance relations in the near future and also thanked President Trump for recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara.
