Former Governor of Nagaland and former CBI Director, Dr. Ashwani Kumar has committed suicide by hanging himself in his residence in Shimla. According to police sources, his body was found hanging in a residence in Brak Haast in Shimla. Information about why the former IPS officer took this frightening step has not been revealed. At present, the police team led by SP Shimla Mohit Chawla is present at the scene and is investigating in the case. Police has also recovered suicide note from the spot. In which it is written that I am going out of my life and going on my next journey. Everyone is shocked by this incident of suicide.

Ashwani Kumar, 70, was born in Nahan, the district headquarters of Sirmaur. He was an IPS officer and held various positions in CBI and SPG. From August 2008 to November 2010, he was the Director of CBI. Ashwani Kumar was the first head of the CBI to be made the Governor later. In March 2013, he was appointed as the Governor of Nagaland. However, in the year 2014, he resigned from his post. He was also the VC of a private university in Shimla.
