The third T20 match at Mount Mongunui was canceled due to rain. With this, hosts New Zealand beat the West Indies 2–0 in the series. Only 2.2 overs were played on the Bay-Oval ground, when the strong rain stopped the match. By then, West Indies had scored 25/1 while losing the toss and batting. The only wicket that Lockie Ferguson got, he dealt to Brandon King (11).
Earlier, New Zealand won by five wickets and then 72 runs in the first two matches of the series. Now the Test series will be played between the two teams, whose first match will start in Hamilton on Thursday. The second Test will be played in Wellington from 11 December.
