Police arrested seven people for allegedly trafficking 26 children from different states and pushing them into child labor. Police said on Tuesday that it was reported that children between 12 and 17 years of age were being held hostage and child labor was done.
Taking action on this, the police team raided several places on Monday and freed 23 boys and three girls. Rachkonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat said that the rescued children belong to Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Telangana.
They said that all the children were trafficked by the accused. All of them were placed at their places of work. Police said that the accused had given some money to the parents of the children and brought them from different states. After counseling the eight children from Telangana, they have been handed over to the parents while the other children have been kept in the rehabilitation center.
