Donald Trump-led US administration overturned the country’s former President Barack Obama’s decision to re-include Cuba in its list of countries sponsoring terrorism. The decision was taken a few days before the newly elected President of the United States, Joe Biden, took command of power.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the government has always focused on the Castro regime’s access to the resources it uses to suppress its people at home. In addition, the US has tried to stop its interference in Venezuela and the rest of the Western Hemisphere.
“The Foreign Ministry has included Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism because of its repeated support of global terrorism by providing shelter to terrorists,” Pompeo said.
“Through this step, we will once again hold the Cuban government accountable and give a clear message that the Castro regime should stop supporting international terrorism and destroy the American judicial system,” he said.
