Real Kashmir FC, the football club of Jammu and Kashmir, took the title of IFA Shield after a brilliant game. In the match played on Saturday, Real Kashmir won its biggest title by defeating George Telegraph 2–1 in the final.
However, many big teams did not participate in this season of this 127 year old tournament. This year, eight teams of the Kolkata Premier League participated, along with four I-League teams (Mohammadan Sporting, Gokulam Kerala and Indian Arrows besides Real Kashmir).
Nigerian player Lukman Adefemi gave Real Kashmir the lead in the 38th minute but Gautam Das of the Telegraph scored the score at 1-1 in the 50th minute of the match in the intervening time. After 10 minutes, Real Kashmir captain Maison Robertson scored from the header to lead the team 2–1. This win will boost the real Kashmir before the I-League starting on January 9.
Team coach David Robertson said, “We are happy to win this historic tournament. We did not take it as a tournament preparation for the ISL but as an next tournament. ‘
