The rocket attack has been carried out in the Green Zone area under extreme security cover in Iraq’s capital Baghdad. A rocket fell near the country’s National Security Service, just 600 meters from the US embassy. These attacks have taken place at a time when US President Donald Trump has decided to reduce the number of American troops present in Iraq from three thousand to 2500.
Earlier in October, Iran-backed Militia said it was temporarily stopping attacks on US troops in Iraq, including the US embassy. It was also conditioned that the US would withdraw its troops from Iraq.
