Several incidents of gang-rape of Uygar women and torture with minority people have been reported in China’s Xinjiang province. According to several media reports, women are systematically gang raped in re-education camps designed for minorities in China.
Uygar Muslims are imprisoned in these camps and they are subjected to many kinds of torture. However, China continues to dismiss these reports. Recently the BBC has released a report based on the women, guards and various investigations run from these captive camps.
In this report, a Uygar Muslim woman has stated her objections. The woman claims that in today’s China re-education camp, rape and sexual harassment are still planned and they are subjected to horrific torture. Following this report, many prominent US lawmakers, leaders and human rights organizations have voiced their opposition.
These people have demanded an inquiry under the leadership of the United Nations. According to the report, after escaping from jail, Turusune Jiavudun fled to America. He said that women were picked up from the cell ‘every night’. After this, people wearing masks rape them. While telling his story further, he informed that this has happened to me thrice. This has also been said in the report quoting the guards posted there.
Reports state that more than a million women and men have been housed in these camps. China says that these camps were built to re-educate Muslims and other communities. Human rights organizations have alleged against these camps in China that there has been a violation of human rights of the people of the Uygar community here.
Turusune Jiavudun, who arrived in America, told that every night, some woman is picked up from the cell and taken away. Chinese citizens in masks take turns raping women in turn. Turusune Jiavudun stated that this has happened three times to him and two to three people have done so.
