A 43-year-old pediatrician of Indian origin, suffering from cancer, shot and killed a female doctor after taking some people hostage in the medical office of Austin, Texas state capital of America. However, after doing so, he shot himself and committed suicide.
According to the police, the doctor has been identified as Bharata Narumanchi. Recently the doctor was revealed to be suffering from his cancer. Narumanchi used to practice in California. He had applied for a volunteer post at the Children’s Medical Group two weeks earlier, but it was not accepted.
The relatives of Narumanchi expressed grief over the incident and said that they would cooperate in the investigation. He also said that he had no idea about why Narumanchi did this. According to the information, the police was informed about the incident via phone on Tuesday.
The caller had said that a person has gone to the Children’s Medical Group (CMG) office and has a gun in his hand. He also took people hostage in the building. Initially, many people were held hostage, but later all left, leaving only one pediatrician, Catherine Dodson, police said. The police tried several times to contact Narumanchi but were unsuccessful. Police is currently investigating the case.
