Stephanie Frappart of France will become the first female official referee in a men’s Champions League match. She will achieve this feat in the Juventus and Dynamo Kyiv matches on Wednesday.
Frappart, 36, became the first female referee to participate in a major UEFA competition match, last year. She then held the responsibility for the Liverpool and Chelsea matches in the Super Cup in Istanbul. She was the female official in the United States and Netherlands matches in the final of the 2019 Women’s World Cup and then became the first female referee to command the French Ligue 1 match.
