The Air Force India may soon get the F-16EX, America’s most advanced combat aircraft. Indicating the growing friendship with India, the US government has approved to hand over the latest version of the F-15 series to India. It is multi-purpose as well as being able to attack every season and night.
“There was a discussion between the governments of the two countries and then the Air Force of the two countries exchanged information about the F-15EX,” said Maria H. Lane, vice president of Boeing International Sales and Industrial Partnerships.
“Our request to license F-15EX aircraft to India has been accepted by the US government,” Lane said. Boeing said that the F-15EX aircraft will be showcased at Aero India 2021 starting next week in Bangalore. This decision of the US government symbolizes strong friendship with India. The F-15Ex has the capability to carry more weapons than older aircraft of the same series. With this, it can carry a hypersonic missile, which is five times faster than sound. These aircraft, equipped with the best digital engineering and software, will be easily upgraded for decades. According to the Congressional Research Service, due to technology, it can destroy the target without penetrating into its range without coming in sight of the enemy.
In April 2019, the Indian Air Force issued a ‘Request for Information’ or initial tender for the acquisition of 114 aircraft at a cost of about 1.30 lakh crore or 18 billion dollars. It was described as the world’s largest military purchase in recent years.
