The condition of sexually transmitted diseases has become more acute in US

In the US, the condition of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) has become more acute. According to a recent report, the number of people suffering from these diseases increased for the sixth consecutive year. In 2019, the number of people suffering from these diseases reached 25 lakhs, which is a record.

This information is given in the report of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to this, in 2019, millions of people were infected with Chlamydia, Prome (Gonorrhea) and Syphilis. The CDC has said that according to preliminary data for 2020, the trend of outbreak of these diseases continued for the past year. According to the CDC, the most affected by these diseases are racial minorities, gay or bisexual men and youth.

According to statistics, the number of people belonging to STDs in the black community is five to eight times more than the people of the white community. The number of Hispanic (Spanish-speaking) people who are suffering is more than twice that of the white community. In some areas of the US, it was seen that gonorrhea caused about 42 per cent more heterosexual men. But most gay or bisexual men suffered from syphilis.

In the year 2019, the incidence of chlamydia among the youth increased by 61%. The number of people in this age group suffering from gonorrhea was 42% higher than in 2018. Syphilis cases have increased rapidly in newborns. The number of such cases increased fourfold in 2019.

Dr. Raul Romaguera, acting director of the STD prevention department at the CDC, told reporters – “It has not even been 20 years since the cases of gonorrhea in America reached the lowest point in history.” Syphilis was almost eliminated. Progress was made towards the diagnosis of chlamydia, which made it easier to identify those infected. But the number of people suffering from these diseases increased by 30 per cent from 2015 to 2019. ‘Dr Romaguera said that the historic breakthrough in preventing STDs has come out of hand in recent years.

Now some experts have apprehended that when the full figures of 2020 will come out and in 2021, the number of diseases due to sexual infection can be increased more rapidly. The reason for this is the problems standing in the investigation of such diseases during the corona epidemic. Employees in hospitals were employed to deal with the corona epidemic. STD investigation work has been outsourced in many places. This means that many people will not be able to check for infection. Many patients suffering from SDT do not have symptoms of the disease. The particular danger is for such patients. Because they will not be tested on time, while the disease will continue to spread.

According to experts, if the diagnosis and treatment of the infection is not timely, there may be occasional or persistent pain in the sexual organs of the patients, impotence, and pregnancy-related problems in women. They can have dangerous effects in the long term. Dr. Romaguera said- “The new data has brought out the need for immediate attention to this problem. If this is done, then there will be a different appearance from future reports. ”Other experts also agree that if not yet given the necessary attention, then the prevention of these diseases will continue to be difficult.
