A press conference was organized by the Union Ministry of Health and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Tuesday about the state of Covid-19 epidemic in the country. Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the number of active cases of corona in India is less than 2.5 lakh and it is continuously declining. He said that currently the epidemic has a positive rate of 1.97 percent in the country.
In the press conference, Rajesh Bhushan also gave information about the Corona Virus Vaccination (Vaccination) Program in the country. Rajesh Bhushan informed that four major vaccine stores have been developed in the country named GMSD. These stores are located in Karnal, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. In addition, there are 37 vaccine stores in Tadesh. Large quantities of vaccines can be stored at these locations and distributed to other locations. He said that the centers where the vaccine would be stored and the temperature trackers would be monitored digitally. Such a facility has existed in our country for more than a decade.
The ministry said that four percent of the total active cases are in the hospital. These have moderate or severe symptoms and need frequent treatment and monitoring. 56 percent of cases have very mild symptoms or asymptomatic and are placed in home isolation. Bhushan said that in the case of Kovid-19 in the country, the burden on the health delivery infrastructure has come down. He explained that health and frontline employees would not be required to register for the vaccine. This is because their data is a bulk database and has been registered on the COVIN (Co-WIN) delivery management system.
