The Russian-American climber, who was found missing last week, was found dead while trying to climb the summit in the northern region of Pakistan amid a fierce winter. The region’s tourism police and Alpine Club of Pakistan gave this information on Tuesday.
The tourism police in Gilgit City announced this on Twitter and said that Alex Goldfarb had gone missing on Friday while trying to climb the Pastor peak. The Pastor Peak is the most important peak in the Pakistani part of the Himalayan Range and is the second highest peak in the world after Mount Everest. It is not too far from K-2.
According to Alpine officer Karrar Hydari, when contact with Goldfarb was lost, a helicopter and a search team were sent. After a day-long campaign on Monday, the Pakistani Army found the body of Goldfarb. Famous Pakistani mountaineer Muhammad Ali Saadpara also tweeted this sad news. Sadapara was part of the rescue team. According to Hydari, efforts are being made to bring back the body of Goldfarb with the help of Pakistani and foreign mountaineers.
