United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has made a shocking revelation report. About three-quarters of the world’s children are forced to live with lead metal poisoning, the report said. The reason why such a large number of children are affected by lead metal is due to negligence in disposing of acid batteries.
NICEF has warned of such negligence and appealed for its immediate closure. UNICEF and Pure Earth’s report, entitled ‘The Toxic Truth: Children’s Exposure to Lead Pollution Undermines a Generation of Potential’ The metal level is five micro grams per decilitre or more.
According to the number of children reported in this UNICEF report, every third child in the world is living with this poison. UNICEF has warned that such levels of lead in the blood require medical treatment. The second biggest shock of this report is that half of the children who are forced to take this poison live in South Asian countries.
