Vitamin C and zinc does not help fight Covid-19

Scientists have discovered in new research that the use of vitamin C and zinc does not help fight Covid-19. Till now, it was being told that their use strengthens immunity in the fight against corona virus.

This new study has been published in the Jama Network Open, which states that there is no benefit of their use. Dr. Erin Michos of John Hopkins and Dr. Miguel Canjos of Houston said, “It is unfortunate that the benefits of fighting Covid-19 with the intake of vitamin C and zinc have not been fully met.

Its clinical trial was done on 214 people. In this, three groups of them were given high doses of vitamin C and zinc. All of them were getting Covid-19 treatment at home. The fourth group was not given both these supplements but was given complete rest, medicines and other medical facilities.

Dr. Milind Desai, a cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic, and his team found that high doses of zinc glucanate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), or both supplements did not reduce symptoms of Covid-19. However, some side effects were also seen due to high doses. Dr. Michos said that complaints like diarrhea, cold, stomach pain started in the patients.
